Android: Gphone shows its face !
Well as we no there is NO Gphone, and as expected by us its the open source software platform Android that Google is developing. Leaked shots of an early prototype of the Google Android powered device (now referred as Gphone) have made its way to the internet. The looks of this Android-Gphone is quite similar to Windows Mobile devices developed by HTC. It is believed that the Gphone’s are in final stages of design and development and the Android platform will hit the markets some time in 2008.
According to the anonymous tipster, the OS (and device) - in its early form - light and fast - much faster than the desktop emulator at times. And as a longtime programmer, he thinks it’s a lot more put together than Window Mobile 5 on the back side of things.

As you can see in the demo video below the Android platform has some exciting and powerful features like 3G, 3D Graphics support, Maps, Touch features like the iPhone etc. As Android is just a software platform for Mobile Devices just like Windows Mobile, multiple handset manufacturers would be able to utilize the same to develop handhelds. Being a open source venture there is lot more potential for Android and the final version in hand might well be a surprise.
