Airtel to offer iPhone for Rs 12500 in India ($299)
Our source is pretty sure, but we would still count this as a rumor. But as it seems Airtel is preparing to release the iPhone 3G in India for as low as Rs 12500. The sourcing price for the same is said to be around Rs 10,000 + a $250 commitment to Apple over the next 2 years. Though we haven't seen any subsidized locked phones in India yet, this might well be the beginning.
Both Airtel and Vodafone are gearing up for the iPhone 3G launch in India (which would actually run on EDGE here). And it is expected that only the old loyal customers would get the best deals under 20k, while new subscribers would have to shell out a little more.
