Dell to releases notebooks in UK with Ubuntu
January 24th, 2008 by Annkur

Dell has recently started to bundle Ubuntu and Linux (Free / Open Source OS) with more of its models. With increasing demand and increasing sales of Ubuntu / Linux, Dell certainly sees a lot of potential bundling them with their products. The PC maker said it will offer Ubuntu Linux 7.10 on its XPS 1330n laptops in the UK, France, Germany and Spain from Wednesday on its Direct2Dell blog, while US customers will be able to take advantage of the offer in "a week or so".
Dell launched three computers loaded with the open source OS last year, including two desktops and an Inspiron E1505n notebook. The Dell UK site quoted a price of around £600 for the basic XPS 1330n laptop specification, but this does not include technical support for the Ubuntu OS.
About Ubuntu:
"Ubuntu is a community developed operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. Whether you use it at home, at school or at work Ubuntu contains all the applications you’ll ever need, from word processing and email applications, to web server software and programming tools.
Ubuntu is and always will be free of charge. You do not pay any licensing fees. You can download, use and share Ubuntu with your friends, family, school or business for absolutely nothing.".
