No deal between MTN and Reliance Communications

Merger talks between Reliance Communications and Sout African telecom giant MTN have formally come to an end without any deal. Reliance had announced in May that it had entered into exclusive talks with MTN. According to MTN the talks / deal was called off due to 'regulatory' and 'legal' issues.

Though we don't know if the RIL create legal hurdles caused the deal to lapse, but it seems MTN has a bad luck with Indian cos. Just before Reliance Comm got into talks with MTN, Bharti Airtel had called off its plans with MTN as it required Airtel to become a subsidy of MTN. Whtever! It seems Vodafone is next in line ;)
